    standard - australorps bantams (this is where it gets tricky) - mmmm i think... pekins... i'll go with pekins (thats bantam cochins for you guys )... i also like wyandotte, barnevelders and watermaal bearded i agree! the question is flawed

    Australorps are really good layers and very hardy. they are all black with a green sheen. Very docile too. i don't know how accessible they would be over there though. Wyandottes apparently lay ok during winter (but never as much as australorps) sussex (if you can get them) are reasonable...
