Oh. I could have sworn I read that they had fifth toe. Perhaps it was sultans. I was looking at both for a breeding project and settled on polish. Sorry.
A couple of weeks ago, I received my shipment from murray mcmurray hatchery and my "golden polish" don't have a fifth toe. Is this just poor breeding habits? Can they be carriers? Meaning if I breed them back together is there a chance I can get back to the standard?
Point taken. I updated my profile. I'm in West Central Indiana. Another good point is what breeds you're keeping. I have mostly kept dual purpose med to large breeds and I am switching this year to larger breeds. Because of this, we have begun the process of expanding our coop.
I have more than 30 and my building is about the same size. Build lots of perching area. I was explaining it to my mother the other day... everything says x and x square feet, but inside you have cubic feet. They fly. Some perch up high, some on the ground, some in nesting boxes. With free range...
Got my shipment from murray mcmurray and this is my "bonus rare" chick. At first I was sure it was a brahma, but then I found a fifth toe. Muff and light beard so far, feathered legs, and fifth toe... yellow with dark patches and slow to feather in. Everything else in the shipment already has...
I stuck an ink pen in the lid where the turner cable groove is and the humidity has come back down to 73% within just a few minutes and the temp is still holding steady.
Yeah, I accidentally added too much water on day 18. Humidity went way up and have been running vents open since trying to get it back down. It came down to 73% today but has since come back up to 77% not sure what other options I have.
How high is too high on humidity after lock down? I have been above 70% for over a day with both vents open. It keeps bouncing from 73-77% for 24 hours.
I'm going to hold for seven more and see if I can see any better. I think the cell may be right but just hard to spot due to the shell. Hopefully the larger air cell will be easier to spot in 7 days. Sorry for the false alarm. Lol
