She's an inside pet and I feel bad that I'm not able to get a bird friend for her and that she's always stuck in the house, so I try to take her on field trips. She'd never last as part of a flock because she gets tired of being outside after an hour or two and goes back in and when it's hot...
I used to take her to this little fenced in park on the outskirts of town. She grew up an only bird, so she thinks that she's both and a cat (she was brought up by my cats and I and she imprinted on us). When I take her outside she wanders off sometimes, but she always comes running and jumping...
So no park trips for her either? That stinks!! Before it got cold, I'd take her on stroller rides whenever I had time and she enjoyed herself. I was too paranoid to let her run around much though.
I figured this would fit in most with the category of chicken behavior. I have a pet hen; she's my only bird. She's going to be vaccinated soon. A few weeks after that, would it be a good idea to take her to a park, have someone else bring their vaccinated pet chicken to the park, and let them...
Thanks everyone! And yes, she's very spoiled. She lives the indoor life with pillows, air conditioning and heating, pets and cuddles all the time, and she watches tv and videos on my tablet. She's the definition of spoiled LOL
So I ran out of food for my pet hen and improvised, feeding her cheerios. I have chicken food now. BUT SHE WON'T EAT IT SHE WON'T EVEN TOUCH IT. It's the same food she's always been eating and now she won't even taste a bit of her food! I thought she wasn't hungry, but she saw me eating cheerios...
there are some white feathers appearing on Choochie's face area. I was thinking that Choochie is a hen, but would these white feathers mean that Choochie is a roo?
here's how big she is now. She's sleepy and isn't wanting to stand up at the moment because she's in a cuddly mood, but she's growing orangish feathers on her breast and a ton of fluffy feathers on her thighs.
Thank you so much. A friend said that my chickie looks like a Black Australorp but I looked it up and those chickies have a lot more white.Choochie looks like a black sex link.
