I agree with this, where I live we aren't allowed to have roosters so we gave them away to a farm a few hours away, you should probaly check the laws on chickens/roosters in your area just in case but, it is your choice either way if roosters are to much of a hassle you can give them to a good...
the one we lost was 7-8 months, a australorpe, didn't move like at all the day befor she died and she seemed more willing to let us pick her up/she didn't run away nearly as fast as she usually does. We have four chickens in out coop and as far as we know no ventilation problems.

I would suggest giving her a towel and keeping a thing of just water and a thing of water and electrolytes full at all times also keeping her inside and letting her have acess to food and a heat lamp. I would also suggest putting down doggy pee-pads and cabinet liner (too stop her from slipping)...
