    I am having the same problem. My co-op suggested a higher protein feed, I started them on it a couple days ago, so not sure if it is working yet. He said sometimes they eat feathers if they dont get enough protein.

    I have found a few eggs with no shell laying in the coop. There is just a yolk inside like a mucus sack. Is this common? Or are they missing something in their diet? My chickens just started laying 2 weeks ago.

    My 2 were 17 weeks old yesterday and I have got 4 eggs already. The first one was Sunday.

    Thanks for all the great feedback. If I can find a full piece of vinyl I think I am going to go that route, Other wise the porch paint.

    I will be putting the plywood down for my floor tomorrow. Just wondering what is best to do with the plywood to protect it. I have read on here about linolium, sticky tiles, and painting it. Any ideas on what is best?

    Has anyone ever ordered chicks from Purely Poultry in Oshkosh, WI? I saw there ad on Craigs list and they are only about 3 hours from where I live. If anyone has, would you recommend ordering chicks from them. I will be ordering my first chicks this spring.

    For the roof, does metal bend?

    I think it would be better if you cut it, then you could put a ridge vent across the top and help ventilate the coop.
