    i have a lab weieriner and afull blooded weieriner and that both will eat any chicken that gets out of the pen. I had to put small wire on thr bottom of all the fences to keep the birds from sticking there hwads out and getting wacked.

    I use straw because I was told the pine shaveings are acidic and not good to put on the garden. I use the straw and manure on the garden.

    If they were flat ones they could have gotten cold and hudded so much the ones on the bottom suffocated and were then smashed. I have had that with chickens.

    Last year we butchered 10 weeks and 3 days from the day we got the birds. I had all hens and they were all about 5-5.5 lbs. And I had one that went 7 lbs.
