hinjk,
Your pen looks just like mine, with chain link sides and the very same netting on the top.
I don't think it is a coon. Because there are no woods or for miles of my place .There is a dranage ditch about 3/4 miles away. But there are 4 dogs and many many coyotes between here and there. I...
i have a lab weieriner and afull blooded weieriner and that both will eat any chicken that gets out of the pen.
I had to put small wire on thr bottom of all the fences to keep the birds from sticking there hwads out and getting wacked.
Could a hawk be doing this?
I have a net over the top but I have found a dead bird every couple of days in the pen with no head.
I do not have any water close by.
I do have hawks around a lot.
Made it thru the first 24 hours.
Was a little scared. Never had turkeys before. Everyone was going on about how dumb they are.

I have had that with chickens.
I let mine go 10 weeks. I had all hens. Because thats all I could get. They were around 5.5-6.0 lbs. I had one at 7.0. They were eating machines the last 2 weeks.
But remember to take the feed away from them at night. They will eat the self to death. I had around 7.20 per bird when I was done...
Last year we butchered 10 weeks and 3 days from the day we got the birds.
I had all hens and they were all about 5-5.5 lbs. And I had one that went 7 lbs.
I have a wooden floor. I cleaned it out last night and it's real damp.
Will it hurt the birds to put lime down and then some straw?
I have it all opened up to try to dry it out.
I do!
I tried traps and I caught a few.
I hated to do it but I went to the farm store and bought some good bait blocks.
I have holes all around my chicken house. Were they are coming and going. So I tossed the bait in all the holes. Making sure there was no way the birds or the dogs can get to...
