    How does one tell if a chicken in suffering from this? I noticed today that one of my hens has been walking around with her mouth open. This is the first time though.

    Hi! New to chickens and we picked up 3 red star on Friday May 15th. One is presenting with a black toenail. Should I be concerned. No swelling... seems to be pecking at it though.

    So happy to have found a backyard chicken community forum! I have three children who are very excited to start raising our own (small) flock. Our city ordinance requires all birds be at least 8wks before coming into the city. Looking for help with finding started pullets- NO ROOSTERS.
