I’m guessing you mean he is interested of your ring and pecks it. If so yes. Completely normal they like shiny things. And they should start going in by them selves once they get acclimated or put them in yourself every night and they will get the hang of it in no time.
My chicken got its lower eyelid pecked months ago. All I did was add some natural honey and it was cleared up so fast. It gets foamy time to time but never bothers him anymore.
