Thanks for the response and confirming what we thought was going on. Its funny cause my grand father-in-law has 20-25 chickens and he said these 4 jumped them 1 by 1. Haha this half pound bantam is keeping them in check!!
OK, I'm sorry if I am hijacking this thread, forum, post or whatever its called but I can't figure out the organization of the site or where/how to post a question and I have been on here a while. So i am very sorry for stepping on anyones toes for this but here is my question... I have 2...
Im tempted to go ahead and put a floor in it. I was thinking of doing sand with DEZ mixed in no matter the coop cause of simplicity and hygenics. Seems like that would be just as much work as digging the top layer of dirt off(what I'm thinking anyhow, 4-5" deep). My issue is time and to an...

Its not all bad....
The dirt floor of this coop is probably unfixable but I was hoping for some help on how I can make this work and have healthy chickens?? I have good ventilation around the top but the main problem I can see is the will plate is just a 2×4 on edge, therefore buried...
This coop is awesome! The condition of the dirt floor makes me real leery. I'll probably build a portable coop and use some of the material from this one
Other than what you can see. Its sitting on the ground. Its probably 20' long and 8' wide. I would want to raise it up to get it off the ground, floor it, tear all those pins out and put nesting boxes in and some roosts. It has good ventilation around the top and I don't think the roof leaks but...
I'm so sorry for your loss. Until I owned chickens I never knew how attached I'd become. You gave her a great home. She was a very lucky girl *hugs*
@ChickenChump
Would you be able to provide photo's of your potential coops? I think you'll get better advice that way :)
Welcome to the BYC...
I could use some coop advice. We have 2 coops on our property already but they both are very inviting to disease so I don't want to let our 2 girls call either home. Both have dirt floors and the walls sit directly on the ground as well. They are pretty big coops, one has the corigated plastic...
The black and white one fits the pics of a silver sebright and the brown one looks just like the welsummer! Thanks, I hear a lot of chicks sport the partridge look during adolescence but I'm going to say welsummer for the time being!
Doesn't seem like this Okie thread is active anymore but just in case, hi, I'm new to the chicken world and have 2 chicks about 3-4 weeks old. One, Dyna, seems to be a silver sebright and the other, Itchy, is still unknown but since its so much bigger than Dyna we think its a full size breed...
