I've changed phones twice since joining and I knew something didn't get transferred (many things, actually) and now I know what I've been missing!
I went through a predator catastrophe in 2021(bobcat) and I'm slowly rebuilding my flock.
I have 23 eggs on day 12 in the incubator and am really...
This one is a mixed breed. I had a broody hen and just stuck a few eggs under her. Daddy is an EE and mama is whatever would cross with a EE to end up with red barring on the wings and red laced white feathers on the neck/chest. I have several different breeds, but none has crowed this early.
This cockerel hatched on May 1st. I've never had a cockerel crow before 4 months old and certainly not before the saddle feathers are obvious.
I was so surprised to hear this!
I didn't want to startle him so I sneaked a video through the crack in the door.
#1 and 2 two of my EEs. I love their uniqueness.
#3 Carat is the goldest BO I've ever had and also the only BO roo that hasn't been aggressive. I'm really glad because I don't want to have to rename him Dumplin'. :idunno
Caesar the GLW was supposed to be a pullet. Surprise!
Lavender Orpingtons. One thing I know about these is, I want more!
The roos name is Robert. Named that by my daughter because, she said, he's so downy! :lau
He's really funny though. He's never been aggressive, but sometimes he runs up to me, pecks my shoe, and runs away. Like he's inviting me...
#1 this bird right here is a big reason I love Jersey Giants. She's so floofy and her feathers have an iridescent sheen that is absolutely beautiful.
#2 what's not to like about a Gold Laced Wyandotte? And the Barred Rocks are just so good-natured.
#3 this is Helen, my oldest bird and only pet...
Ok, you made me curious.
It looks like what I have are Easter Eggers.
The picture in the article I read looked exactly like one of my hens.
And I had no idea there were chickens with no tails! :idunno
The article also said they are commonly mislabeled as Araucana or Ameraucana.
