Baby turkeys need more protein than the chick starter has. Buy the highest protein feed you can find. I feed mine meat bird feed (with some hard boiled egg to give them a boost). There is a gamebird feed that is wonderful but pricey.
I cannot speak for the living arrangements, my turkeys are separate from the meat chickens.
However, I do feed the meat chickens the same feed as the turkeys (meat bird feed) and everyone is happy, happy, happy!

Here is what I do for mine. I have never bought farm store turkeys (I hatch my own) but I did buy farm store meat chicks and almost all died.I will not buy from a farm store again, anyway.
