Thank you all thus far so the great responses. Certainly am getting a lot of valuable info even though it seems the main consensus is that... you won't know for sure until you go through with it. I guess given the personalities of each hen, situations are always different.
I have a question...
Thank you for the responses thus far.
DobieLover - question, what are your opinions on 7 week old hens. Reason I ask is there are some available to me, and I imagine would be easier to raise as they're past the chick stage. At 7 weeks do you presume they could have already started a pecking...
I always let them free range during the day in an area that is fenced 6ft high with my other farm animals. She must have climbed the fence somehow and got out. I am absolutely devastated. The free range area is safe but she figured out some way to get over and out. I found her already dead :(
I only had two sisters, they'd spent their whole lives together. They were around 3.5 years old and last night I lost one to a dog attack. I am devastated. But I am adamant that I need to provide my remaining hen with companionship ASAP as I do not want her to be lonely and become increasingly...
Thanks Eggcessive, so I can discontinue the Amoxicillin and begin the Baytril immediately? I dont need to finish the Amox or have any waiting period to start on Baytril?
Hello All - So I started treating with Fish Mox mixed in yogurt yesterday. But I was able to find Baytril online and I have ordered it. I should have the Baytril by Tues-Weds. So I am wondering if I can discontinue the Amoxicillin and start giving Baytril?
I wanted to get her started on...

Also when you say a while, could that mean longer than a few weeks?
Also if someone knows, can I continue to treat until it looks better or should i stop at some point. I've been applying once a day, mainly when it gets dark outside so that she doesnt get dirt on her comb.
Does anyone know if the comb should be changing colors with Miconazole treatment? It seems like it got darker in areas. I dont know if thats part of the healing process.
So her comb looks a bit better, however areas are starting to turn dark, almost like they are scabbing. I'm thinking maybe this is the cream healing the fungus? Can anyone chime in on how the comb looks as it's healing with Miconazole?
I did use disposable gloves (which btw I found out are not cheap!). But didnt clean with alcohol, just soap. I guess I should have though, I will apply it, better late than never.
Just realized we use a poultry dust which is Permethrin in their nesting boxes. So they should be mice and lice free. I check them often enough including today and no little pests on them.
Tonight I treated with Miconazole as best I could on her comb. She did not like it at all but she calmed...
