    Freezing temps

Normally it doesn’t get lower than 30s or high 20s where I live but it’s going to be 0. I’m worried my chickens will be too cold. Their coop is thin plywood but no insulation. Anything thoughts. They get corn and we do the deep litter method. And we have 8 hens. Normally I don’t care and have...

    Water belly/ascites

My hen Jax, is a 5 year old easter egger and I’m pretty sure has ascites. I’ve been monitoring her and it hasn’t gotten better (as expected) but worse affirming my assumption its ascites. She has all the signs. I’ve done research on draining it to make her more comfortable. I just wanted to...

    Possible ascites

I have a 5ish year old easter egger. I’m thinking she has ascites. Its progressed pretty slow but shes starting to walk more upright sometimes or drop her tail. I’ve felt it but it doesn’t like just fluid. It kind of feels like a hacky sac and gritty. Maybe tumors :’( wanted a second opinion...

    Elderly hen beak

My 5/6 year old hen has been losing weight and not really eating and I figured it was because she has been sick This morning I noticed her beak doesn’t shut completely on one side (this is new she wasn’t born with any beak deformities) I think it’s from overgrowth? I may try trimming with a...

HELP!! Deformed chicken born with excessive under beak and no eyes!

It won't need any food or water for three days since it just hatched so don't worry about feeding it You can see if it has any other impairments and go from there. I'd just take it a day at a time :)

HELP!! Deformed chicken born with excessive under beak and no eyes!

I don't think there is much you can do at this point. You can let it fluff up and see how its does. you'll probably want to isolate it though if it's with other chicks because they may pick on her.

I'm impressed that it hatched. did it need help? the eyes/dots are probably not functional

HELP!! Deformed chicken born with excessive under beak and no eyes!

If she is completely blind she'll probably need special care all her life. (free-ranging isn't a good idea/she'll need to be in a predator proof coop with GENTLE flock mates that won't pick on her) If she has more deformities than just the beak and eyes you may have to consider the chicks...

    Master list of tools needed?

One of my favorite items are watering nipples/spouts. They are cheap and keep the water so clean!
