    Injured chick

I'm researching ruptured air sacs. Seems like that may be it. The bubble is translucent just like what I'm reading. I'm going to go against my instincts and try to empty the air with a needle.

    Injured chick

She is in the same condition. I just looked under her wing and there is a huge bubble that looks like it's filled with fluid. There is also a big red dot in the bubble that looks like broken blood vessels. I have no idea what to do.

    Injured chick

I have a broody mom with two babies. One of her babies fell from their nest that is about 2 and a half feet from the ground. I wasn't there when it happened but she must have been attacked by a group of other hens. She seems to be in pretty bad shape. We are feeding her through a dropper. Does...

Ended Contest #3 Cutest Baby Fowl - 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong

This is Turk. She is our wild turkey that we rescued from a cat attack when she was a babe. When she was this small, we would take her for walks and she would follow right behind us wherever we would go. If we got too far away from her, she would flap her wings and run as fast as she could to...

URGENT!!! how long should i wait before cutting the umbilical cord on a chick?

I've had some of mine have that and they seem alright now. Except two that had yolk sac attached to it died, (ones intestines piece was hanging out.) She is not growling anymore! She's calling them over to eat and snuggling them in. Thank you. You have been most helpful.

    Broody Hen Issues

As I was typing my last message, I started to hear them peeping and moving about. I walked over and she was doing okay with them. Then, I noticed her growling a bit when one of the barred rocks got close to her face. I know I probably shouldn't have interfered but I gave in and picked the barred...

    Broody Hen Issues

That makes a lot of sense! I did leave them under her for the night. I will move them this morning before they start walking around. Thank you!

    Broody Hen Issues

. If she does it to get them away from me then why doesn't she do that with the one she hatched out herself? We hold that one and she seems fine.

    Broody Hen Issues

My silkie hen had been sitting on a clutch of eggs for quite some time. Only one ended up hatching out about three days ago. I was just able to get to the farm store today where I bought four more. I slipped them underneath the mama and all was well until one of the new chicks came into her...

    2 Roosters for sale

I am selling my Barred Rock and White Sexlink roosters. I have younger bantam roosters that they are starting to peck at. Rocky, the Barred Rock, makes himself known while Bo, the White Sexlink, doesn't crow at all. I would like to sell them together, so that they have each other. I live in the...

    IS THIS A QUAIL?!

Going to get her some turkey food this morning! Thanks again for all the help. She is the sweetest bird I've ever encountered. She peeps constantly until I go and put my hand in, then she jumps on it... :)
