Thanks for the advice. I decided to give diluted antihistamine in water and bathe her face/eye area with some cold water. She is looking so much better today- eye can open properly and only a little bit of swelling.
We have had beehives and chickens for a number of years but this is the first...
One of my girls has been stung by a bee and her eye looks quite sore; happened approx. an hour ago. Is there anything I can do for her? She seems okay otherwise.
I've attached a photo of the brother a couple of weeks ago. Is bigger with a much bigger comb/wattle now and even pointer/longer tail. They are both 11 weeks old at the moment.
Hi there! Any ideas on the gender of this gold laced wyandotte? His/her brother (same age) has a much bigger and redder comb/wattle, pointy/upright tail and different feathering. Plus, the brother acts much more aggressive/rooster like. However, he/she still looks a little like a boy?? Any help...
Hi there, I have 4 young chickens at the moment (5 weeks), two buff Orpingtons and two gold laced Wyandottes. With the buff Orpingtons I am pretty sure one is a boy and one is a girl. However, can anyone help me out with the Wyandottes? This is our first time with this breed as we normally raise...
Yeah there are four that are definitely roosters. I have four that I am pretty sure are hens and then this one (mystery!). All the chicks came from someone who couldn't look after them when they were about 2 days old. She has a mix of chickens and the chicks are quite a mix!
Hi. I am a little unsure about the breed and gender of this chicken? I initially thought that they were going to be a rooster due to having shorter wings when little but no comb or wattle so far and about 6 weeks old. Regarding breed- feathers are starting to grow on its legs.
There is plenty of space in the nesting box but may have been squashed at the back as my hen likes to sit in one corner near the back (and the chick was find right in the corner). Also, one egg exploded under her which may have given her a fright I think. Her other four chicks seem to be doing well.
