    Bug bite or something worse?

Thank you, I meant to update earlier but have been busy. ♥️ Appreciate it

    Bug bite or something worse?

Well it's so weird! She's doing just fine! About 2-3 days after I noticed, she stopped acting sick and is all happy, tail up, walking around and chickening. I didn't even have a chance to give her any special meds, besides some apple cider vinegar in their water. It seems like the swelling has...

    Bug bite or something worse?

Thank you guys for the tips, I will give her some watery feed and soft scrambled egg. For the benadryl do you shoot it down their mouth with a syringe or how do they take it?

    Bug bite or something worse?

I wonder if it is a wolf spider...the reason I say that is because we have a lot of them here and it just seems like if it were a smaller spider or mosquito it wouldn't change her behavior so much. We had our small dog get bit on the nose by one and it swelled up HUGE. Maybe like you said, a...

    Bug bite or something worse?

OK.. She doesn't feel good I can tell. She's sitting down a lot and she usually is skiddish but she is letting me pick her up. Here's new photos from today

    Bug bite or something worse?

Hi guys my barnvelder recently developed a small swollen area on the top of her comb. It's been a couple days now, but I sorta expected it to subside by now. This is a pic from a few days ago.. It is about the same size now, maybe slightly larger now maybe not (I need to take another photo to...

Bullied Blue Cochin head split open, deep gash

She fully recovered BTW. Cleaned it up, put neosporin on (non-toxic, NO pain relief) and vetericyn, kept it clean and kept her separate. Took a few weeks but she's been back to normal for a long time now. Thanks for all the help everyone ❤️

    Silkie foot injury

Thanks guys, I wanted to reply sooner but I've been busy. I took your advice and kept the wound clean, applied antibiotics, and kept it wrapped. I bought the Prid Salve, but didn't get a chance to use it so I will have it for next time! I actually didn't have to replace the bandage that many...

    Silkie foot injury

I've seen bumblefoot before but usually I catch it pretty early. This injury, on the other hand, I only noticed today after the silkie is limping pretty badly. Usually with bumblefoot I can soak the foot in epsom salts and then tweezer out the infected "plug", bandage it up and continue...

Hot summer, over 100F. Okay for chicken brooder?

I was super anxious and worried last summer during their brooder period but everyone survived just fine! What we did is similar to what you are doing, we put a frozen 1 gallon water container wrapped in a towel inside the brooder on one of the sides. This allowed the chicks to go near it if...

Bullied Blue Cochin head split open, deep gash

That's great to hear, thanks... and a mohawk would suit her well 🤣

Bullied Blue Cochin head split open, deep gash

Here are some pics after we cleaned it. It was hard to get a good photo... There is a flap of scalp towards the back of the gash that kept folding back when she'd shake her head that I had to flap back over. You can kinda see the depth in the first two pics when she leans forward but in person...

Bullied Blue Cochin head split open, deep gash

Thank you, I made a saline solution with 2 cups boiled distilled water and 1 tsp non-iodized salt that I'm cooling down now to put into a syringe to rinse it out better. As for the spray I used vetericyn wound spray. I just want to make sure it gets cleaned out enough and I think spraying it...

Bullied Blue Cochin head split open, deep gash

Our Blue Cochin got beat up by one of our Ameraucanas today and it's the worst injury I've seen on a bullied chicken. The top of her head looks split open, about an inch in width and it looks like it's deep down to her skull! Not just a bloodied pecking but a deep split on the top of her head...

    Hen or Roo? Hermaphrodite Silkie?

Thank you, I think you may be right although I do not know the health implications of any of those conditions.
