Bug bite or something worse?

Hi guys my barnvelder recently developed a small swollen area on the top of her comb. It's been a couple days now, but I sorta expected it to subside by now.

This is a pic from a few days ago.. It is about the same size now, maybe slightly larger now maybe not (I need to take another photo to compare). The last two mornings she was slow to get off the roost but she's still eating and drinking, walking around.

Do you think this is something like Fowl Cholera?? I hope not. It's so small too (but I don't have experience with that before so I wouldn't know for sure)... or something else? I was thinking mosquito bite or spider. Nothing wrong with our other chickens.

OK.. She doesn't feel good I can tell. She's sitting down a lot and she usually is skiddish but she is letting me pick her up. Here's new photos from today

I am following this post because I haven't seen this yet. Hopefully someone will know what's going on. To me it looks like a bee sting or spider bite.

I wonder if it is a wolf spider...the reason I say that is because we have a lot of them here and it just seems like if it were a smaller spider or mosquito it wouldn't change her behavior so much. We had our small dog get bit on the nose by one and it swelled up HUGE. Maybe like you said, a bee could do it too...because its not THAT swollen compared to all the photos I can find of others' issues, but it's weird that she's lethargic too.

Maybe you can google spider bites until someone with more expertise responds. Maybe look for puncture wounds on the back of her comb. Hopefully she bounces back.

It looks like there may be a small mark that is a sting or bite. You could try a single dose of Benadryl Childrens Liquid, and dosage is 2-4 mg per kilogram (every 2.2 pounds.) Dosage for a 5 pound chicken is 3.75 ml. Let us know if that helps. I would give her fluids and some watery chicken feed and bits of soft scrambled egg.

Thank you guys for the tips, I will give her some watery feed and soft scrambled egg.

For the benadryl do you shoot it down their mouth with a syringe or how do they take it?
