    Fading Hen....

Thank you both for your help. Unfortunately, I just returned home and found her freshly deceased. I sat with her all day, but she passed alone. So sad...

    Fading Hen....

There's nothing to drain. She's skin and bones. I have her in a warm room syringe feeding her water now. I'm concerned she lost too much fluid too fast. I've read that can cause shock. She cannot stand, is listless and mainly is keeping her eyes closed now. I dont have that vitamin or yogurt...

    Fading Hen....

About three weeks ago, our hen Chicken Patty started acting down, standing like a penguin, swolllen abdomen, no eggs, no food or water. I thought she was eggbound and soaked her in warm Epsom baths for a few days, but nothing. I tried worming the whole flock with safeguard. I also did corid for...

22 week old pullet suddenly acting off/sick?

She hasn't spit up since starting the meds and she was not eating which I've learned on here can also cause bile in poop. But I'll look into it!

22 week old pullet suddenly acting off/sick?

I am, she ate a bunch yesterday including some egg and this morning her crop is full and hard. So her crop isn't emptying as well. I'm so confused. But her coloring is brighter today and I do think the open mouth breathing is stress because she stopped and then she and my cats noticed each other...

22 week old pullet suddenly acting off/sick?

Now she's open mouth breathing constantly and chirping every few minutes. Like she's overheating but it isn't hot in here. Is open mouth breathing part of sour crop??

22 week old pullet suddenly acting off/sick?

I started her on the miconazole last night. This morning I took her outside for some fresh air but her poops are green now from not eating, so after her second dose this morning I made a mash of her pellets and some water and she's actually been eating it. Cautiously optimistic- we'll just see...

22 week old pullet suddenly acting off/sick?

I did that today and yesterday. It just felt soft and squishy. Not full. And she threw up water after I did it.

22 week old pullet suddenly acting off/sick?

She's been acting off for about 3 days now. Laying on the ground more than usual. Not eating much at all, but ate a fair amount of grit yesterday. Doesn't come off the roost with everyone in the morning or often goes in by herself. Her tail seems droopy to me. Her comb color appears normal or...

    Odd wet spot under roost

Yes, they were "rubber" eggs. I've seen 4 this past week. Not positive who they're coming from, but I have been finding them eating them when I check them in the morning. Mystery solved! Thank you!

    Odd wet spot under roost

I have 8 pullets (18+ weeks old). 3 have started laying daily 8 days ago so I switched to layer feed pellets. All seem to be behaving normally. However, this morning I was cleaning the poop under the roost and noticed a baseball sized wet spot under the roost. I sat in the run for 30+ minutes...

Update: Yesterday I gave her egg in the morning and moistened feed for dinner and gentle crop massage a few times during the day. Today it looks 80% better. Thank you for your help!!

    12 wk Pullet Swollen Neck

So, she's still active and acting normal this morning. She seems very hungry, but I separated her while her sisters eat. Her crop looks slightly smaller to me, but really only slightly. Her poop is runny, but she hasn't had solids in over 24 hours. I will attach a pic. Should I hold off on grit...

    12 wk Pullet Swollen Neck

She just pooped on me during the crop massage and it was solid and gritty. She started opening her mouth a lot during the massage and the mass feels more pliable but isn't down yet. The article you linked said to repeat it in 30 minutes so I have her in the brooder with water waiting to do the...

    12 wk Pullet Swollen Neck

She's a good girl and I was palpating it this morning while she was on the outdoor roost. I dont anticipate her giving me any trouble. I'll update after I give it a go. Thank you!
