question on blocking off nest box for broody

I’m sorry but I’m a little confused. Do you want the hens to hatch their eggs? I raise silkies which can be very broody. I’ve actually shoved a few other eggs under them, for a friend, to hatch. They are such good mama’s . When they started stealing eggs from some of my other chickens I simply...

    Mallard Duck

I would totally love to incubate the eggs. I don’t have an incubator and I’ve never done it before. I’ve been told it can be tricky. Plus, I can’t have 12 ducks. It they are raised by humans can they be released later? I wouldn’t think so but I have no idea.

    we found a CHICKEN

Are you a teacher? Can you take her with you. That’s what I do and that’s why they are so friendly. I have done the same thing with my goose. She would sit in a plastic tub in the front seat and honk at everyone. She loved the attention. 😉 I have some amazing videos of it but I can’t figure out...

Reintroducing Head Hen back into flock

I had a wonderful Americana a few years back. I introduced two much larger birds into the flock and one of them jumped her and broke her leg. I sent the two bigger ones back to the original owner and desperately tried to find a vet to help my Peanut Butter. After two telling me to just put her...

Which parrot won't bite my ear?

Not a clue but I have raised cockatiels and currently have a female. If you get just one they will bond with you an will sit on your shoulder. If you get a male they can mimic a bit of voices or sounds. I do have a small harness that I keep on her when we are outside because if they get spooked...

    we found a CHICKEN

I am by no means an expert on this but I have had chickens, ducks and geese. I think you should keep the little girl inside as a pet for as long as you can. Eventually you have to move them into a coop because the dust is to much. Mine are all treated as such and they follow me everywhere, jump...

    Hi There!

Oh no! Rooster are beautiful and can sometimes be friendly, I had a little silky who was delightful. He even walked on a leash but I raise my chicks in our living room and transport them to the school where I work during the day so they get lots of attention and handling. I’m so glad you are...

    Mallard Duck

Hello, I have a lovely female duck that has chosen to lay her eggs in a small alcove at the school where I work. The first year she did it they got eaten by something 😕 and then last year none of them hatched. And she’s back. She has chosen a really bad spot due the high traffic and children...

    Weasel…Help!

So it's been five days and we still haven't caught the weasel. I've tried everything suggested but no luck. One thing I realized was that although our chicken run is extremely large (40x30) it really doesn't have anyplace for them to roost up high. Does anyone have some cool looking ideas that I...

    Weasel…Help!

It's awful isn't it. You work so hard to keep them safe and then to find one dead or injured is heartbreaking.

    Weasel…Help!

I'm sure store bought is fine - don't think Mr. Weasel would know the difference.  Hope you get him....don't count on their being just one. [/quote Really? Great now I'm never going to want to let them out. Ugg

    Weasel…Help!

Thanks. It was very helpful. I'm just wondering about where to get the chicken "parts". Can I use store bought chicken? Mine are strictly pets. No eating here. :)

    Weasel trap!

Where is the best place to find glass jugs? Also, can it be store bought chicken parts? I'm sure that sounds weird considering I have chickens...
