    Texas Heat HELP please!

Does anyone have tips on dealing with the heat? We have lost 3 of 6 chickens in the past month due to the heat. We have opened up the coop at night to help with airflow and they always have water available. These are all Golden Comet chickens just under a year old. Thanks!

Seeking design suggestions for the ultimate chicken tractor/mobile coop for a small flock

I will second what electrycmonk said. Definitely go with 2x3s and maybe even 2x2s for your framing. You could also use that composite ridged type roofing over your trusses, instead of plywood etc, to cut down on weight there. Once more option, although more expensive, is build it with cedar...

What would be the difference to growing this outside? Better or worse? Love this idea!

Two Laying Hens - Killeen, Tx

We have two 10 month old laying hens we are selling. They are awesome but we just have too many for our backyard. I believe they are sexlinks. $20 each or $35 for both. Delivery available in the Killeen/ Fort Hood area. We just want them to go to a good home. I will post more and better pics later.

    A-Frame Backyard Coop

After going back and forth and trying different things, it seems the hens just needed a bit of training and time to settle into their new coop. We are now getting about 3-4 eggs per day, from 8 hens, which I think is pretty good for winter. :)

    A-Frame Backyard Coop

Here is my chicken coop. I think the roost needs to be raised? I was also thinking of leaving the roost as is and dropping the best lower. Any thoughts? I am in Killeen, Texas. (Near Austin). We have 6 laying hens and let them roam the back yard for about 4 hrs a day.
