Hello All,
In October I was given a free coop and two hens. I was told they were 18months and molting so we could expect eggs after molt/winter! I have a RIR and a Partridge Plymouth Rock. Both birds appear in excellent health, and have BRIGHT red combs and wattles.
The Plymouth Rock...
Right with Ya Sista - did it today! I thought well maybe there is individual variation which would explain her different comb and feather coloring but as the previous owner had said RIR I just accepted until now. Now I am totally excited to find out her breed!
I am totally curious - maybe she is not a RIR?? I know her comb is totally different - she is a slightly larger bird than the clearly RIR with the bright red comb. Her comb never seems to get bright red, which has had me worried about her health a bit, however, her eyes/beak and behavior...
I thought I had two RIR but have been told the hen with the varied color feather pattern and small comb is not a RIR??? What is she then? Posted one I age of two hens together - clearly see the other is RIR. Thoughts???
Thanks for the advice! I will look for it! We are three blocks from the ocean and watching whales as write to you :) I have the tiniest most productive yard on the block- chickens ( well will be productive hopefull :) and a hydroponic garden (vertical garden) that I grow about 30 different...
