I noticed the one hen has a much larger comb and wattles, I thought maybe it was a rooster. They are beautiful birds and look well cared for.

I am totally curious - maybe she is not a RIR?? I know her comb is totally different - she is a slightly larger bird than the clearly RIR with the bright red comb. Her comb never seems to get bright red, which has had me worried about her health a bit, however, her eyes/beak and behavior indicate healthy. She is definitely the submissive of the two.

Hello and Welcome To BYC! You might want to post pictures of Ariel / the smaller bird in the What Breed/Gender forum, she definitely is not a RIR, from those pics she looks to be partridge colored maybe could be something like a Partridge Plymouth Rock.

Right with Ya Sista - did it today! I thought well maybe there is individual variation which would explain her different comb and feather coloring but as the previous owner had said RIR I just accepted until now. Now I am totally excited to find out her breed!
