Video of my suburban coop and Trampoline play area....

I don't think I would allow children to jump on it while the chickens are underneath! Might scare them silly! Now I am wondering if it is possible to train the chickens to go from the trampoline area back to the coop without us having to herd/carry them? Is it possible to train chickens?

Video of my suburban coop and Trampoline play area....

The beauty of it is that my chickens won't be able to roam into the neighbors yards, they have shade, they have protection from hawks, and we can move the trampoline around the yard so that the chickens get fresh pasture each week! The netting is just a plastic netting from Home Depot, bird...

Video of my suburban coop and Trampoline play area....

Here is some video that I shot of my coop and run. The run is hidden under the deck stairs and isn't very big so we enclosed the bottom of our trampoline that the kids have outgrown. We put the chickens in the trampoline area about 3-4 days a week so they can get some greens and bugs and stretch...

How soon before the eggs get bigger?

I have 4 White Leghorns and 2 Barred Rocks and they just started laying small eggs last week. Today I got my first relatively large egg and it was from the Leghorn. Perhaps the breed makes a difference.

    Along with everyone else, apparently...

I came home with my TSC chicks on March 28, 4 White Leghorns and 2 Barred Rocks. I got my first little pullet egg last week and now I am getting 2-3 eggs a day. Today I just got my first large egg, all of the rest have been tiny things. All of the eggs have been in the nest except for one which...

WaHoo!! The Ninja Coop is all done except the paint job! (PICS!)

Quote: Awesome. Sorry to hound on that one point. I couldn't see the door and just wanted to make sure... After spending a little time on the predators forum (and earlier having a resident raccoon living not 10 ft. from my coop) makes me a little skitzo and over protective... I know that we...

WaHoo!! The Ninja Coop is all done except the paint job! (PICS!)

Quote: There is a pop door underneath the window for the girls to get easily in and out of as they please. The chicken wire encloses everything except the pop door. The biggest concern right now is one of our dogs. It's the little tri colored mutt that is pictured sketching about the chicken...

WaHoo!! The Ninja Coop is all done except the paint job! (PICS!)

This coop was a mashup of two different coop designs that we found on BYC. It measures 4'x8'x4'(plus roof pitch), sits about 12 inches off the ground, and is so solid a tornado couldn't break this apart. Well, maybe a tornado would but you get my drift. First let me start off by stating that we...

    Agressive Chick, possible Roo? (pics)

The brooder has two parts: the initial part was what they were in as little chicks and it was a large dog airline crate. When they got larger I moved them to a space in the unfinished part of the basement that is in effect a 4'x3' cubby. I blocked the entrance to the cubby with the original dog...

I feel better about it all now, thank you very much! You are right about the limited space, I hadn't thought of that. Do you think that these Leghorn chicks look to be about 5 weeks old? I just hate that my favorite chick is at the bottom of the pecking order! She is so sweet and docile...

    Agressive Chick, possible Roo? (pics)

I guess Master Chief is as good a name for a pullet as for a rooster! It definitely suits her personality since she is so pushy an bossy. She pecked me in the mouth yesterday when I was trying to get a good look at her, Ouch! Is it wrong of me to interfere with such chicken antics like I did or...

    Agressive Chick, possible Roo? (pics)

Do you think that the two chicks in the pictures could be roosters? I'm just wondering because I'll have to rename them if they aren't ! Can chickens kill one another when establishing a pecking order? Once the feathers and fuzz started flying I didn't know what else to do except remove the...
