So fertility issue solved...incubating issue created....1 hatched out of 12, like 8 fully formed chicks that died while/during hatching
Styro bator...to high humidity? What causes late term deaths?
Ok so I don't know what I did but out of 6 fully developed eggs I have one lone survivor....two pipped in the normal location and died, one was moving around till day 22 and is now not moving, didn't even pip...the other two just did nothing ...what causes such late term deaths on hatch day?
I have cracked dozens of eggs...while eating, they are not bulls eyed, so I just don't think he's getting them, I was told to pluck his fluffy butt a little...?
I have a Malines Rooster in with only 3 barred rock hens and I am getting only around 33% fertility with each set of eggs I incubate. I also gave eggs to a lady for her to hatch and she only had 40% hatch rate...soooo he doesn't have that many ladies to service what can I do to help him out...
Wonderfully actually, shocked me but made a full turn around, has a new flock of his own as I could not reintroduce him to my Malines Roo, he was gonna get killed
Well my biggest concern about reintroduction isn't if they will pick on him, it's what is making him drunken stumble. I don't want to introduce it to the whole flock
Soooo this bird is still kicking, living in my garage, going outside alone in the front yard some days. she is not a she but a he ....but doesn't seem to be healthy enough to reintroduce. He seems happy and forages around, but not stable on his feet, then other days seems fine? Crowing now...
I'm sure this is on here but I am not using the correct search words to find it soooooo...is there a method used to select fertile vs infertile eggs? I know some of the hens are not being bred but don't know who's eggs are who's soooo is it just a crapshoot and I have to waste edible Infertile...
Well that's good news about the Mareks not tending to come and go. Bad news being she had been all feeling better so I put her back with the flock and came home from work to find her beat the crap out of laying in the corner of the coop in the rain :( so she's in the house I put Veteracyn on her...
So I guess my question really is...if it is Mareks...which looks like its almost un-diagnosable...everyone will have been exposed to it but maybe will live perfectly healthy lives?
I have not changed food but they free range all day, I was concerned that maybe they spilled water in the house and got mold intoxication? I had thought eating rotten something in the yard and Botulism too, its just so weird that if she is in the crate she gets better and once shes free range...
I have a sick Polish hen, she is around 5 months old now, about 2 weeks ago now she started to stumble and was walking like she was drunk, then just standing in the corner all hunched over, I separated her put her in a crate in the house with vita/electrolyte mix and did a round of...
Yes thank you I will have to use that one as a starter :) hoping more people would be interested in adding their names to a BYC Canadian Breeder list :)
