    Your coop looks great! Ventilation at the top is exactly where you want it. Drafts come below and that’s what they don’t want.

    My Golden Girls go crazy for bananas. When they get too ripe for us, it goes to the girls. They also get worms, lettuce, carrots, apple peels and cucumbers.

    Deep Litter in Run and How to Keep Clean

    I use river sand only! My Golden girls love it as they lay down and wallow in it and throw sand through their feathers. I put some earth in a horse feed low bucket so they can get to that too! It prevents bugs and it’s food grade so it won’t hurt them. I clean the run with a rake that I put...

    I use sand in the run only and shavings in the coop. I bought nest bedding from Amazon but my girls don’t like it…. I guess I’ll just put shavings in for nest bedding.

    Barn Cats and Chickens

    I have 2 barn cats! My chickens are in a run with coop attached. I wouldn’t trust either one of my cats alone for one second with my Golden Girls! My cats are hunters but they’re also affectionate and like to be curled. Sometimes the cats lay around the outside of coop just watching the hens lol….

    That’s a great idea! I have a window in their coop and put a window fan in. I can unplug it from the outside. Easy to start up in the morning and off at night.
