The Fang Dangled Automatic Chicken Waterer....
After seeing all of the ideas on here I decided it was time to do something about our watering system. Previously it was a bucket with holes and an oil pan under it. I have seen some awesome ideas on how to make this better but I wanted something...
We set eggs under our broody on the 10th. We had our first hatching today and yesterday I believe as one is drier and fluffier than the other. So possibly, things speed up in the "natural" environment? I have no way of knowing, lol, this is only our 2nd time hatching and we have only been...
We just had 2 of 3 eggs hatch today or yesterday, not really sure. I heard peeping this morning when I went to collect eggs. So exciting! We hatched 1 chick a few months ago under a great broody hen and it was so sweet to watch her take care of her little chick. But, something got them both...
Thanks everyone. I made her a little pen today. I will take some pictures soon. It started to rain just as I put her in. She seems to like it. My husband took her out and was holding her. The rooster immediately ran up to my husband to investigate. He let Red look at her and he went to pecking...
Interesting. Thanks for the pictures! I am going to keep her in the pen in her own house for a bit and let everyone get used to her. She also isn't full grown yet. I might try integrating her later on and see how she does. Thanks everyone for the encouragement!
Actually we got her when we got the other 4 hens last night. I have her in a crate right now inside the big pen. The big girls went into coop last night with the established flock. They are sorting out the pecking order lol.
Well I'm not sure. should I? We have 7 hens and a RIR rooster. The guy who gave her to me said the bigger chickens would peck her to death since she is so small.
Tonight we picked up a few hens to add to our flock. We have lost numerous hens since we started a year ago. My husband just finished the chicken fortress so they are safe now. While we were at the guys house he talked me into taking a "frizzle" he didn't want. She isn't frizzled herself but is...
Thank you! How cool! Thanks to everyone who voted! I hope that it works for everyone else as well as it does for us! Big thanks to my hubby for being so patient with me and helping me make it come to life! LOL Everyone had great ideas!
I am interested in answers as well. I have had the same problem with some od mine. I treated a young hen with antibiotics as well as my rooster. I also purchased oxine to spray down the coop and add to their water. I sprayed the rooster with it...he didn't like it but is likes me now! Good...
I had posted about a hen of mine being ill a week or so ago. Someone recomended that I mix oxine and put it in her beak. Well it just came in today and I don't know what concentration to use or how to do it exactly. My rooster is kinda snotty sounding too. I have the 2 of them isolated and...
I am glad you liked it! I was super easy to do. I was shocked. I thought for sure it would take all day. The main thing is making sure the pipes are all glued LOL. I was just out testing mine and it has zero leaks! Still trying to get the birds to use it but they will catch on once one of them...
We had a Cornish X on accident. We recently had to put her down. We were trying to find someone to take her and butcher her but no one would. We certainley didn't have the heart. By the time we began considering it she was about 20wks old and HUGE. She walked all over the yard, free ranging with...
Ok...this is my first time doing a tutorial, page etc etc....I have looked at waterers for months and I finally bucked up and bought the stuff to make this happen. I did use some ideas from differnt people to come up with my own contraption...lol...anyway...take a look and enjoy...
I heard it this weekend too for the first time! We have a mixed flock of all different ages. Our BO that is probably 18 months or so old laid an egg while I was outside and she came out just a singing. It was so funny! I had never heard it before!
