These birds are very docile when you handle them. They're so furry and everybody in the house loves our Ameraucanas. The eggs are gorgeous, too. However, they don't lay that many eggs and they aren't very well-behaved at times.

My Americana went up like that a few weeks ago and I fed it some milk and some oatmeal. She recovered soon after.
For me, I'd use home remedies because they are safer.
Coons only snatch the head and crop, the neck. It could be a dog, but they do not take action at night. Cats tend to eat the meaty parts, not rip up.... I'm stumped. I vote dog/possum, though
I would say the best way is to inform your neighbor about your chickens (if they don't know yet) and ask them to please deter the foxes away from your yard. One of our favorite chickens were taken by the neighbor's cat, and after I asked them politely to keep their felines away, the gore stopped.
