Middle Tennessee
Hello! I'm from middle Tennessee, near Nashville, and I'm hoping to get backyard chickens in a few months. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about chickens because I'm kinda obsessed. Any tips or advice would be wonderful. Thanks!

Welcome! We are new to BYC as well. We got our first flock of Buff Orpington chicks in March and can't wait for that first egg. Hope you enjoy all the amazing information here, I know it has helped us out a ton when doing research for our chickens. There's nothing like first-hand experience to give you some perspective on different topics. What type of chickens are you thinking about starting with?

Spook's best advice and tips? Wow, that's a hard one.

Just decide what you're after and go for it. (Egg layers,
meatys, pets, house bunnies....A lot of choices you get
to make.

But they're all fun to have and watch.

Spook....who knows you'll enjoy chickens.

Thanks everyone! I'm thinking about Rhode Island reds, hamburgs, barred Plymouth rocks, australorps, and I want one silkie bantam just because I like them. I want to raise them for eggs, and they will be pets too.

Hi and :welcome

Good luck with your chickens and have fun! You'll have a very colourful flock. BRs and RIRs are great egg layers. :D
