A new incubator today! I decided to get a smaller incubator for the Button Quail eggs since they really don’t take up that much space. I took a bit of a risk in buying a cheaper one off of Amazon. So far it has been doing good and keeping the temperature, which is pretty impressive since our...
An addition that I added to the back of the greenhouse. They will be able to go in here and hang out during the day especially when there is snow on the ground outside. I can flap up the tarp on the back of the greenhouse in the mornings to allow them access to it without having to walk around...
Thank you! I bet you could draw some really good pictures! Do you prefer to paint or draw? It doesn’t take much after some practice, other than actually spending the time to do it.
Thanks! I know! I absolutely love this paper. A lot of my best pictures have been drawn on tan paper, especially while using white charcoal in them. It’s one of my favorite ways to draw. ☺️
This is a picture of a Great Horned Owl that I have been working on.
When I’m done I am planning on having it sent to an old friend that I haven’t seen for years.
Of course all of my nice drawings are always for other people. That’s actually really the only thing that pushes me to finish something.
I moved some more birds into the greenhouse today! These last few I waited until it was dark as they weren’t giving me a very easy time when I tried before.
Most of them are pullets that are about full size and then some hens that snuck into my young group.
We got 2 eggs today! The first eggs I have gotten in several weeks due to molting, the cold, and not a lot of daylight. Really hoping this means they will all start gradually laying again. The one is smaller so I’m thinking it might actually be from one of the silkie mix hens I got yesterday.
We picked up a bunch of cockerels from a neighbor and they were super kind and threw in 8 silkie mix hens as well! They said there were 15 roosters, and I wound up taking 21 home.:D 13 are silkie mix boys, 7 are Easter Eggers, and the last one is a Brahma.
Here are the hens! I have never...
I wound up deciding that they needed to go to a home that might keep them safer. 😅 I actually wound up losing almost all of my females to a fox family as soon as they started laying, was able to hatch some eggs and get the numbers back up, then our puppies got out and killed even more. I wasn’t...
We’re not really sure. I bet it wouldn’t take much to find out. I agree! It seems like they might just be short on people this year.
What a true statement, especially for up here. It’s quite scary.
Go girl, go! :clap
Our cats do this all the time. I am definitely thankful though. We don’t really need mice or rats. The last time we got a present one yakked up a bird on the floor in the living room, and that was the last time that cat was allowed in the house…
