Home made cabinet style incubator with digital thermostat and digital auto turn control
I Had an idea bouncing around in my head for a while of how I could build a auto turn for a cabinet machine, My wife would tell you that the idea had a heap of room for bouncing in
Well the only way to...
Hi Lextextrapper,
It looks great.
Have you sealed the ply wood on the inside at all?
If not you will need to either use paint or clear varnish on all exposed wood. Otherwise the ply with absorb any moisture from the air and will swell, warp and go mouldy.

Hi Jim.
The thermostat was designed and developed by a fellow enthusiast in australia, the timer for the turner I designed myself based on the same microprocessor used in the thermostat.
Great horse, its only the fourth incubator attempt over a year and a half, lots of learning and improvements...
Hiya poissonguppy,
I made a experimental bator from a foam veggie box and used a 80w heat cord.
In Australia normal light globes are being banned and replaced with the flouro type.
It does heat well, except it has draw backs.

if you move the shelf that the water pan sits on towards the front of the machine it will open up a gap between the shelf and the back allowing the air to flow better.
Just drilling some holes wont be sufficient.
Have a look at my BYC page at my homemade unit to get and idea of how to...
Hi There
It appears that the airflow within the cabinet is not really good, the fan looks to be beefy enough to get the same heat from top to bottom ok buy something is wrong
the concern will be when you get to hatch stage and move the eggs to the bottom of the unit in the hatch trays.
Does the...
It looks great, only one sugestion however.
the little shelf with the holes behind the fan will severely restrict the air flow in the bator.
make the holes a lot bigger or cut the little shelf right out so the fan can pull as much air as possible thru.
BTW Its great to see that you got the...
Steff,
I only bump the humidity up in the last three days.
If there is an earlier batch of eggs in I reduce the humidity after the hatch is finished.
Three days higher humidity is no real issue if you compensate for it after.
A fellow Aussie on a Aussie site hatches a week apart in a hovabator...
Hi Wilds of Pa
The rottisserie motor i used can be bought as a add on item for a hooded BBQ from specialist BBQ places over here. It cost $25 Aussie. They normally use 2 D cell batteries, but I have taken the motor and gearing from the original case and put it in a project case and feed power...
