Worried about healing and infection after duck attack

I have 3 male ducks that have been abusing my chickens. My buff brahma has massive injuries on the back of her head from them holding her down and pecking the back of her head. I have quarantined the ducks, cleaned her injuries the best I could and applied Neosporin. Her wounds are oozing and...

    Cats??

Has anyone ever had their or other household cats attack chickens?? When I had my chicks and ducklings in the house, my cats paid no attention to them. Now that they are outside, my cats have definitely noticed them. My poultry free ranges and anytime my cats look interested I give them a...

    Naughty little chick

I have three 6 week old chicks, a leghorn, a buff brahma and a red new Hampshire (I think). Once a day I will go out and give my 4 ducklings (the same age) and chicks a treat. They all scamper all over me to beat the other ones to the treats. Today, Duchess, the red, plucks my pearl earring...

    duck sounds

I have four 6 week old khaki campbells. A few of them have just recently started "quacking".....a lot!! I have one out of the group that makes a definite "honk" sound. I have read a lot on voice sexing, is the honk the sound of a male or just a silly female?? Their coloring suggests that...

    Wild Mallard question

We have a pair of wild mallards on our pond. I noticed the female laid 2 eggs in a muddy spot surrounded by some tufts of tall grass, but I have not seen her sitting on them at all. Is this normal?? My husband thinks the eggs must be "bad" but I am assuming she knows what she is doing. I...

    Full crop, worried.

I panicked a week ago because my 6 week had the same thing. I noticed it when I put them to bed, I double checked it in the morning and it was gone. She is a piggy and I think just fills to the brim every day :)

    Lumpy chick question w/ pics

My chick around 6 weeks old, she has had a lump on her chest for week or so. At first thought it was just her crop, it was balloony and soft when she was younger but I looked closer today. It is harder and looks scary under her feathers. Can someone tell me if this is abnormal and if I need...

    feeding chicks scraps

Awesome to know, I haven't really given them much yet, just a treat now and then. The protein info is good to know because I have given them a cooked egg yolk 1-2 times.
