That’s what I plan on doing, there are just soooo many cracks! That’s why I was thinking about using a fogger, and then more pyrethrum and elector as a wash. I know that lots of people are saying that mites seem to be immune to pyrethrum now because it’s been used for so long.
I am at my wits end with all of the various assorted mites I've been dealing with this summer. It seems like no matter what I do, they just won’t die. I have now had to move the chickens out of their coop to do intensive treatments (fowl mites and leg mites, in particular), but they can’t stay...
He is an avian vet. He said he didn’t see any sign of a fungal infection, but I’m going to treat it as an infectious disease/fungus and disinfect everything. Can’t hurt. I was all set for him to do surgery if necessary, but he said there was no blockage, the muscles just didn’t seem to be...
I was also thinking a tumor. My other chickens have been fine so far. I’m assuming a tumor pressing on the digestive tract further down would cause crop stasis?
Just wondering if anybody knows what might cause crop paralysis and liver enlargement? I just had to have one of my hens euthanized, and those were the only notable things that the vet saw on X-ray and ultrasound. He didn’t offer any explanation. The other chickens are fine. It seemed to come on...
Thank you---she was a friendly, sweet little girl and a good mother. I think she probably did have heart failure, there were no signs of any other kind of illness or injury. She was warm and cared for, and went quietly. Thank you for your help!
They are "mutts"---part Japanese, part Silky. We have tried letting them fight it out, to a point, but when one ripped a chunk out of the other's comb (twice), we stepped in. As far as a picture---imagine a giant ball of orange feathers with four feet, pretty much what they look like when...
She just passed tonight, she seemed to be having a hard time breathing. I was hoping to get her to Mon., so my vet could see her. Thank you for your help.
Oy! I have a flock of three chickens, all from the same clutch. One is a rooster, two are hens. They had to be separated (had another rooster at the time), so one hen and a rooster went in one side of the building, and one hen and the other rooster went on the other, separated by a chicken wire...
Hi---my 7 year old hen was limping a little bit a few days ago. She has had problems with leg mites this last winter, and usually I can just soak the leg and apply antibiotic ointment for a few days and it goes away. This time was a little different---the soles of her feet and her hocks were...
I'm not 100% sure, but the rest was clear-ish and very mucousy(not green, and no solids) ...Tractor Supply and other local feed stores don't carry Corid anymore here (I don't know if it's a Southern Maine thing?), so I would have to order it and wait for delivery. And our vet doesn't open until...
