We now have 6 hens with 5 of them laying daily and we have 2 nesting boxes. It seems like there is a "traffic jam" in the morning as about 4 of them lay around this time. Our Easter Egger just laid a huge egg today out in the run after not laying for months.
Should we get more nesting boxes...
Being in Phoenix, we have our coop almost completely covered with a tarp and an evaporative cooler on the inside with the intake against the chicken wire on the side that is not covered. This is essential when the temps go above 100 and you can tell the girls love it because they hang out inside...
I know...I so want to keep him, but my family wants me to get rid of him, probably because they don't want to get too attached too soon. He's actually very sweet...they all get together at dusk above the coop (since they are separated from my other 3 older girls in the run) and I can pet him...
This little one is 2 month's old. We started hearing strange "singing" at 6am, and can pretty much confirm it sounds like a rooster's crow. And the tail features look kind of ornate. Is it too early to confirm as a rooster? Or should I start looking for a new home for him. I can't have a rooster...
