I was wondering if that may have been the problem. But they really didn't have that appearance. The outer membrane was not down to the inner membrane. It was like the shell was starting to dry out, and the membrane was starting to pull away.
These were from our hens and we set them because we...
Yes, I did open them. They all seemed to be fully formed but I didn't know what to look for really. I cracked the egg open on the big end and the outer membrane looked like it had pulled away from the shell. The inner membrane was intact. All of them appeared to be in the shell with the head in...
Well I am officially calling it quits on the batch of eggs started 3-21, None of them hatched not even a pip or chirp. will open one to see what it looks like and then toss them all. At least I told my 6 yr old when we set them that it was a very good possibility that none of them would hatch...
Here I sit wondering what I have done wrong with my hatch. I placed 12 eggs in our home made incubator about 9am on March 21st. Culled the ones that were infertile and had blood rings after day15. I mis-calculated the lockdown date and put 7 of them into lockdown a dday early. First time...
Thanks! I have done exactly what has been suggested and left it alone. The temp came back up and have maintained humidity by adding warm water through a vent hole.
Okay, thanks. I will just leave them alone for now and just keep the humidity up. I also turn the heat up in the house and hopefully that will help. I have another home made incubator that I have them in the lids of cartons. I thought that may be better than the egg carton when I set up the...
Help someone please!!! I got up this morning and the temp was down to 97F. I have my eggs in an egg carton so I can not tell if there is any movement. I do not hear chirping or any thing. And as far as I can tell none of them have pipped! I am using a homemade still air styrofoam...
So far I have nothing. I put my eggs in lockdown a day early and am having trouble maintaining humidity (around 60%) in our homemade incubator. (still air). patiently waiting and worried that I have caused their demise.
Candled tonight and here's the count for my dozen: 9 movers , 1 non fertile , 2 with what looks to be blood rings . On the ones with a blood ring will candle again tomorrow night and see if anything has changed. I have read that there still may be hope.
Good luck everyone!
Okay now I have a question. Day 1 I "candled" and marked a dark area at the large end of the egg. Day 5 the "shadow" had increased considerably. This is by shining the light up from the small/pointed end. But when I shine the light down the dark/shadowed area was in the bottom part. What does...
