    YO GEORGIANS! :)

I'd really like to try pharoah quail. With their early laying and rich eggs I think they'd be worth it. Do you feed yours flockraiser or gamebird feed?

JacksF&G- just my opinion here but I've raised quite a few bo chicks and the 2nd chick pic down makes me think that's a roo. Early redness of the comb area has always meant boys for me.

    Black Copper Marans discussion thread

I have a question about leg feathering: should feathers be on outside toe only or in a line like fashion down the outside of the leg as well?

    *Buff Orpington Thread!*

My best broodies were buff orpingtons. I sold out of all of my chickens and all supplies last year when dh got laid off and I went to work. We're getting things going again and can't find any BOs locally! When our TSC got some in one man was waiting and bought ALL of them!!!

Can someone give their thoughts of what breed my yellow chicks are? Help please

I think production reds. They look like RIRs but lighter.

    Not silkie 5 toe mystery

Not the best pic but thrown in for chick size comparison- they are with RIR chicks.

    Not silkie 5 toe mystery

The female has more of a chocolate color instead of black.

    Not silkie 5 toe mystery

I got 3 of these to prove they are not bantams and not silkies. Chicks are standard size chicks, black skin/legs, 5 toes, clean legged and single comb. Worker said 'they are Amberlinks cuz they are in the Amberlink bin.' I said they are definitely not Amberlinks. She let me examine one then said...

Diana- a swift kick to the chest could be what happened to wheezy. Once when I was integrating RIR offspring into parent coop when all were the same size one of the momma hens did the ninja kick to the chest of the most submissive daughter. Happened so fast I was dumbstruck!

Diana- how's the ventilation in your coop? It sounds like you've done a lot for her and things are going well other than dealing with her frenemies:-)

I haven't been on in a long time- so much goes on! Sweet mint is planted in raised beds around some of my coops. When I see parts growing towards the ground outside of the bed I just pluck it off for tea. Keep a watch around the raised bed to make sure it isn't trying to be sneaky and escape to...

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

So many posts and pages so fast! By the time I catch up I forget what I was wanting to reply to If there's a fresh clean egg with a shell only crack I usually cook immediately. If it has mud or a poo spot the hogs or other animals get it cuz washing it could run bacteria right into the egg. With...

Any idea what this is? It smells more astringent than lemony, like a cleaner. Notice to the upper right there are buds. I don't know if they will be flowers or what. This is the thin stemmed little plant that was growing in the side of the lemon balm pot when I bought it. Possibly not lemon...
