What kind of Standard pullets are we??

My vote is that 2 and 3 are easter eggers - they do not always have fluffy cheeks from a hatchery, and develop their green legs later. I will be interested in what # 4 is! Cute...

help i dont know there breed lol!!!!!!!!!!

As an aside, I was in Tractor supply today...they had a huge tub of "assorted black pullets" - and there was this one little chick in there who looked like your third photo...in a sea of black chicks! I was very curious as to what it might be! Interesting thread!

Terribly worried about "Break time" during hatch???

Well, it still stinks... I am starting to think that it may not be me, although I know that most of my purchased eggs were fertile.... All of my cochins have now hatched, as in 100% - had two more this afternoon. Just not the purchased eggs. Oh well, I suppose that is life

Terribly worried about "Break time" during hatch???

Thanks for your reply... Can sometimes shipped eggs hatch later than home raised? My eggs have hatched (cochins) but the Ameraucanas have not. MB Foster

Terribly worried about "Break time" during hatch???

I am worried because I had 11/34 eggs hatch yesterday (day20) and since then, no pips, chirping, nothing. It seems all the chicks that hatched (save one) were one breed (cochins)... Today is only Day 21...can they take a break from hatching? Or are they likely dead? It has been about 16...

Is it true different breeds hatch differently?

Illia, Yes, on day 17 I candled and saw movement in most, but good development in all. It is day 20 this evening, so maybe something will happen overnight

Is it true different breeds hatch differently?

Loooking for more thoughts on this...Iam becoming really nervous. The Ameraucanas are doing nothing, and the giant cochins are almost done,100% hatch. Is there a breed or shipping difference in time of hatch? Anyone?

Is it true different breeds hatch differently?

Thanks, Fredshens, It would make sense, but I have never heard of this before. In cattle, certain breeds calve at different times, and girls are almost always earlier than boys...anyway, I hope you are right and it is a breed thing!!!

Is it true different breeds hatch differently?

I am very excited, 32 eggs and it is day 20, we have 7 pips. I have Wheaten ameraucanas and giant cochins set - but, only the cochins have pipped. Is this normal for different breeds to react or hatch at different times? Thanks for your thoughts... Foster

Look what followed me home from the feed store.

Darn it, I hate it when you go to the feed store and the baby chicks just magically appear in your car. My husband hates this, too. looks like a Wyandotte to me too, congrats!
