    What is going on with my Cochin? We recently added a new hen to the flock so I figured she got pecked but it's bigger today. What is this? She's not sneezy or runny, she's eating, drinking, and pleanty of energy.

    So my best bet for this little guy is to wait to see if it's barred? I'm glad I asked, I totally thought that females had dark spots! This is all great to know!

    Thanks for all the great information! This is close to what the rooster dad looks like. He's not barred. This little chick is very light. For cream leg bars I thought the females had a dark spot and males have a white spot- is that right?

    I'm having big time issues with chicken lice and I stumbled upon this: http://naturalchickenkeeping.blogspot.com/2012/12/natural-way-to-rid-chickens-of-lice.html?m=1 It basically says to use wood ash to rid them. Has anyone tried this?
