Thanks, that sounds good. I think I need to wait for the weather to get a little warmer, I live in New England and winter wants to hang on. But I'll bring them down next week, it's supposed to be in the 70s
Hello, I have 5 one year old chickens in my flock, this spring I decided to get four more.
They're three weeks old and are doing well in their brooder, I'm planning on adding on a new coop for them, it'll be on the opposite end of the 12'x4' run that's attached to the existing coop. My plan is...
Thank you for all the great advise, they did fine through the night. The temps here in ct will climb up to low 70s on Sunday, I'll bring them out for a little while.

They're 2 weeks old.
Elevating it sounds good to. I'm probably going to move them in a bigger area so it'll solve the warm water problem. Very new at this
Another option is to use nipple feeders. I use them from day 1 and theres not an issue with water getting dirty. I simply use a plastic soda bottle and screw the nipple into the top, then suspend it. After a couple of taps at the nipple with your finger, the chicks will get the idea.
All the...
i change the water in the brooder at least 4 times a day, it's always full of pine shavings and....poop!
The water also gets warm due to the heat lamp, is this a breeding ground for germs and diseases, is there a better way to keep the water somewhat clean, I'm not around all day to keep...
