When we had this happen at thebird rescue i used to volunteer at, sometimes we would take olive oil and gently massage the vent and abdomen. Dont push!! Offer a warm pack to rest on, warm, not hot and use humidity in your favor.. A warm wet towel or a dip in warm epsom salt water. You might try...
Okay so the chick I had to help hatch is doing GREAT! I named him/her?? Strugglebuskins. Now I am curious.... How do I KNOW my chicks are HAPPY?? My lil struggle will rest comfortably in my palm or lap and even snooze! But what are the signs of a truly happy bird? Are there special noises or...
I "chickenscape". Since they share space with mykhaki campbells and muscovys i have a nice hutch myhubby built with two cosy compartments one of which is giving my broody hen some much wanted privacy. I am also exploring chicken resistant plants and ground cover to enrich thier environment as...
Im so so sorry thats awful. Charge what you think is fair per bird AND for the fence AND for extra expenses to make sure his dog cant get in again -meaning to beef up your defences he should pay that too and for any collateral damage doggo did. That oughtta learn him to keep his dog secured...
UPDATE strugglebus chick MADE IT OUT!!! WEWT!! it took a rest in the incubator (extremely supervised) and pushed itself free of remaining membrane in an hour. No blood no yolk sac external! Now for my wittle peeper to fluff up and rest!! Oh sweet relief!!
I appreciate your info very much. I do love my birds. And nothing i read or watched mentioned what you said. Honestly after hours of pouring over articles and youtube NOTHING but water was ever mentioned so im very grateful to have you teach me better.

My hen i got because she was broody and the old owner didnt want a hen who kept going broody...so i took her. Wouldn't you know the car ride brought her out of it. Maybe try a nice ride in a safe carrier? She just went broody with us the first time a bit ago but we have her hatching eggs for us...
Im sorry that does read like i wrapped the baby wet doesnt it? I didnt.. Just the exposed membrane and it was only Damp because i dont want it to drown
So much conflicting information on the web.. But its only damp and the first time i had put it back the membrane dried right back up so this stopped that from happening again. Im watching VERY closely with a flashlight through the plastic so i dont drop the humidity. Thanks for the condolences...
