Yesterday, Escambia County passed its chicken ordinance allowing backyard chickens in residential zones. It's been a good 6 month battle for me and over a year for others now but we've achieved success! Full details can be found on our website, http://escambiachickens.com/ordinances/

Awesome. Please post some links to articles when it comes available. What are the new ordinances? We've just begun our fight here in Escambia County. The Count Board of Commissioners dropped the topic from their agenda tonight after they realized there was more support in favor of allowing...

That's how we learn from our mistakes! ;) I just have inherent distrust of politicians. There need to be term limits in place and there should never be professional politicians, but I'm not here to start a political debate, I get more than my share of that at work! :)

It seems I'm in District 1, so I'll be calling Wilson Robertson on Tuesday morning. My coworker and his family who also keep chickens live in District 4, so I'll talk to them as well. I have friends in District 2 who keep chickens as well and so do their neighbors so I'll make sure they know too.

Thanks! I'm in Escambia County and I thought chickens were legal also! Will do my best to attend. I'll help spread the word, I've come to know of a few friends who own chickens too.

How often to change the litter in the brooder cage

Under the bucket is some kind of divided tray. I didn't make it so I can't even begin to source it out. I've not had any problems with it function wise, it does what it is designed to do pretty well. When I told my co-worker's F-I-L that the chicks were scratching all the food out, he told me...

How often to change the litter in the brooder cage

I didn't make the feeder. My co-worker's father-in-law sells them, and I figured I'd get them from him and help them out, even though I was planning on making my feeder out of some PVC tubing. They have about a 1 inch hole over each tray section and the feed flows pretty freely into the tray...
