Oh I hope you’re right! Thank you for injecting a little optimism into my day 😉
Fortunately we also hatched 2 partridge Brahmas and I’m pretty confident that one is a girl based on her feathering up almost twice as fast as what looks to be her twin brother. So I’m grateful that we may have...
Thanks so much guys - you’re confirming my suspicions here too. I’m hoping at least one of the olive eggers will prove to be a pullet too🤞🤞And it’s Ok - this is the luck of the draw. We had fun incubating the eggs and can accept nature’s lucky dip 😉
Hello amazing BYC community,
Just wondering if any can help ID whether we’ve got some pullets among these 5-6 week old chicks. Hopefully a few 🤞🤞
We have 2 blue laced red Wyandottes (#1 & 2); 3 x silver double laced barnevelders; 2 x olive eggers and 4 x Marans (3 copper one birchin). Love...
Thank you everyone 🙏. Will get on treatment for bumble foot - maybe look at taking her to the VET. We are continuing mite treatment… still minor but I’m aware they’re hard to get rid of. Any recommendations for articles/advice on feather picking if that’s the underlying issue?
Thanks Alexandra, can you say more? I’m still puzzled by the bare belly, red scaly skin etc… What are you observing that makes you think feather picked? And any suggestions for managing this if it is the issue?
Warmly,
Krista
Hello all you lovely chicken-loving peeps, I’m reposting this as I still need help (turns out it’s not smart posting for help on election night 🤦♀️) Anyway, I noticed feather loss on two of my girls now more than a month ago (mostly on Matilda our 1yr old copper Maran and Ella our grey Easter...
Hello - not sure how to provide. Bump here (and maybe my fault for posting on election night…) but I’d still love some help here… Anyone have more input?
Hello all you lovely chicken-loving peeps, I’m hoping for some help caring for some of my girls. I noticed feather loss on two of them several weeks ago (mostly Matilda our 1yr old copper Maran and Ella our grey Easter Egger). I thought it might be a first molt initially (it’s spring here in Aus...
Just wanted to share these beauties with you chicken loving folks as there’s no one else I can share with that is as excited as I am about these colours - our first five pullets just started laying and it’s a pretty lovely gradient. Hard to capture the darkness of the brown (end) and olive...
Hello, curious if is this BCM Cockeral is show quality? He’s 7months old. Do any breeding standards allow for clean shanks with BCM? We’re in Aus too.
@Chooks man?
What a wealth of information on this - I’ve been wondering about our 7month old boy below. No feathers on his feet though - is that a disqualification? We’re in Australia if there’s any difference in breeding standards…
