Wow he’s gorgeous!Some more pictures of Mr.Rick
Of course he would do great for a fair.Black blue splash.
Just for the fairs my son wants to .
maybe the breeder is breeding for dark eggs not the correct body type .Thank you so much! It is my first time with marans. This boy came from a BBS pen.
what do you want to do with him ,breed marans or EE ?He is 7 months old. I appreciate the info!
What a wealth of information on this - I’ve been wondering about our 7month old boy below. No feathers on his feet though - is that a disqualification? We’re in Australia if there’s any difference in breeding standards…Hi tere your roo has a square body type ,very narrow from the back and between the legs very wrong , marans should have a long .wide and chunky body type ,rectangular type
his tail is at the right anglea little longer but that ok not all over the place .
his shoulder are wide that is good .
his back end where the tail meet the back is narrow ,should be wide.
his back is shouter should be flat and long.
his legs are well feathered .
his comb is not bad has some pproblem too , the lobe is a fork type at the top
he has a great head ..
over all hard to breed good chicks from him if you want to breed a pure copper marans .
he need to be matted a great looking and correct hen/ hens to correct his fault .especially the body type
chooks man
