    Damaged Skin area

so I read a little on both blue and red more. Blue sounds liked more of what I'm looking for. Her skin isn't broken open, it just is sunburned. im thinking the blue kote will provide a mechanical sun barrier as well as discourage pecking. luckily the other birds havnt been pecking at her...

    Damaged Skin area

I actually considered it because I had heard of it before. I'm not really familiar with BluKote so I'll have to look into that for sure.

    Damaged Skin area

We recently got rid of our Rooster because he was being really rough with the girls and tearing up their backs. One girls in particular, Hazel, has an area on her wing that is completely featherless! It's about the size of a quarter. It's been well over a month since we got rid of our roo and...

    Feather loss question!

the coop is now too big for them since losing half the flock. I thought about boredom too. with all the snow we've had, they don't like to leave the coop. I hung a cabbage today but it's so cold that the cabbage froze after a couple of hours. luckily it should warm up this week so they will...

    Feather loss question!

she seems to be eating and drinking fine. I do see some pin feathers and after reading about molting it makes sense. she's usually the only bird I can pick up but yesterday she absolutely hated it! I gave them all some boiled egg and tuna yesterday.

    Feather loss question!

will do. thank you. I'll still get pics tomorrow when I go out. we used to have 13 chickens but recently lost most of them to a neighbors visiting dog. I know the birds are not as warm as they used to be just because so many are gone. im considering moving them all into our garage

    Feather loss question!

they do! mostly. I can't get back out now because it just started snowing pretty hard, cant see out to the coop. but when I went out a while ago I caught her and took a closer look. the shafts look like they may have new feathers popping up through the middles. I checked for mites amd...

In trying to male my coop and run more secure I had read that loss noises can keep raccoons away. has anyone had success using windchimes to keep pests away?

    New clucky mom here!

Hi, my names Carisa and this is my first time owning anything other than a dog or cat. This chicken idea was that of my husband and a friends. Our friend lives outside of town and thought we could keep them out there. We got our first set of birds a few months ago when they appeared in farm...
