I bought several chicks from the local feed store that were supposed to be Cornish crosses. These look like they may have been mixed up with some buff Orpington. Anyone Carr to share their thoughts on this?
I’m getting rid of my Cornish breeders and going a different route. There are 3 roosters and 7 hens. 3 are two years old and the rest are last years birds. Message for price. Must pick up. Will not ship.
Thanks!
All,
I do not have light in the coop. I don't have electricity where my coop is located at. I have had birds before that slowed in the winter, but did not stop completely. I have an 8' x 8' coop with a 20' x 40' run. Layer pellets, water and oyster shells always available. I free range a lot in...
About a month ago, I had 9 of my 12 hens killed by dogs and I bought 9 replacement sex link pullets that were just starting to lay. The first day I had them, I got 5 eggs from the 9. Since then, I doubt I have got 12 eggs. I’m not sure how well they were fed before me. I thought of them eating...
I may have some to get rid of later on. I need to see how many I will be keeping for breeders and what my male/female ratio is. I will post available numbers later on.
Does anyone relative close to me have a spare rooster from Fat Daddy's "Pen C" that I could work out a deal with? Or a separate blood line for that matter. My rooster has a cleft foot and hasn't mounted up based on eggs coming from that pen.
I guess I was lucky enough to get eggs from him when he had them. My 25 eggs from Fat Daddy gave me 10 birds and those ten birds now have 23 chicks and 3-4 dozen more eggs in the incubator. Averaging around a 70% hatch rate. My "pen C" is a little lacking though.
