Oh okay so maybe it's just a feather that is about to molt? I really think she's a female by her voice but the whole mating thing and this feather made me wonder -

Yes it has a very loud quack. I thought the females quack and the males are more raspy sounding. Her quack is so loud it's like a goose lol
