I am a mother to two. Both are now adults. I am also a grandmother of one. My granddaughter is 12 now and lived with me and my late husband till she was 8 with her mom. My daughter is now on her own in a apartment not far away. My son is now living with me since my husband passed away a few years ago due to cancer.

My son was given 4 chickens to see if we liked raising them. Which we do and this year he purchase 6 day old chicks that I am helping raise. During the day they are going outside in a fenced in run for them next to the 4 hens we were given last year. Both runs are close to each other and will later be connected to give them more space to roam.

Today I had to go separate the Rhode Island Red from the rest of the chicks as it was pulling out the tail feathers of my little gray chick. Drew blood and I separated them using a dog fence for outside and divided off the coop giving them 2 runs instead of 1 for the new chicks. They are 6 weeks old today. I am not sure how to protect this chick from being attacked each time its in with all the chicks. The RIR are going after two chicks and pulling out all the feathers down the back. They just started to grow back in and now they are going after tail feathers.
