    Doughy crop, cocci

So, updating here 1) I used the soft gels for my girl. I broke it open, squeezed out the right amount into some baby food, sucked it into a syringe, and gave it orally. 2) as for Belle, I hate to say it but we lost her. Now one of my other hens is showing symptoms. Im about to throw in the...

She does have grit. Still doing all of the above. She’s eating and drinking ok. Her poops looks like so: Very green. Very watery. She is also using an antibiotic that makes her water bright yellow.

So, this morning it decided not to empty again and was a hard softball. Does this mean her crop is just slow, or what?

    K) alright. For the sake of updating the journey here we are: I got ready this evening to do surgery to get this out of her. I laid her down to remove the blockage and it kind of disappeared. The crop was flat. I sat her up and felt around. The blockage was now oblong and able to be molded...

Thank you. I will look at these. I have watched about 15 of them and then another member had detailed instructions for me earlier in the thread with supplies needed. I’ve been practicing on a chicken tender today. It sounds silly but I want to know the sharpness of the scalpel and pressure...

Yes. We’ve been doing that a few days now. I would Prefer that too. My vet is 4 weeks booked and really expensive. It’s a bit of a struggle there.

Adding: in her stool she passed one of these. It’s like a little bead or something. I can feel several in her crop. Just adding this to consideration.

Experts: does the fact that her crop is malleable and the size of a ping pong ball away you one way or the other? Treatments: Stool softener, oils, massages, rooster booster and watered down chick feed, previous Corid/ antibiotic from vet. Mass is malleable. Will flatten to the point of...

My largest concern is how skinny she is. I’m afraid she’s going to die after being so sick with cocci and losing SO MUCH weight. She’s bones. I don’t know how much time I have left to wait and see. She’s stressing me out.

This morning her crop is a hard ping pong ball. In her current state I’m afraid I may have to do crop surgery if she wants any chance of surviving.

I tell you. She’s keeping me guessing. I treated her last night with stool softener. This morning her crop was still doughy but more pliable than the day before. As the day has gone on with her massages, it is more like squishing a bag of soup but still reluctant to empty totally. Does it...

Nope. I’m not sure. I just noticed it when I was giving her a crop massage. Perhaps it’s just liquid in there.

Brief question. I searched but couldn’t find it. What does a bubble sound coming from the crop indicate? I’m trying to see if she may also have sour crop, but there’s not a foul smell. We are still doughy after using a stool softener so I’m continuing to try massage and oil. She is pooping...
