Please help me with my sick girl

I am sorry to hear this but she did look in a bad way. I had a hen do this one time out of the blue. She was my favorite and always wanted to be with me. Its very sad when this happens. I'm sure there are a lot of people here sending their support to you.

    Insomniac Chickens?

Thank you Egg: The dog and I didn't make any noise. The ladies were just up and wandering around quietly as if it was daytime. I checked the roost and nothing appeared amiss. I think something must have startled them. I should imagine they will have an early night and be back to normal tomorrow :)

    Insomniac Chickens?

I got up just now to let the dog out. It’s pitch black still at 6 am here. I felt eyes on me. The chickens were all up. Quiet but apparently wide awake. I gave them warm water and checked the coop. They’re still very quiet like they know they shouldn’t be up. I’ve never seen them do this...

    Winter Light

Dear Backyarders: My first post in a while: Our chickens are now of an age (8 months) where they should start laying. They are well fed and sheltered. I installed a light in their coop four nights ago to give them the extra four hours they need to lay, but there are still no eggs. Does...

Official BYC Poll: How do you name your pet chickens?

My first chickens were named after female singers: Adele, Tina, Amy etc. My current ones are named after characters from the L Word: Tina, Alex, Red and Big Boo.

    Chickens Again!

Thank you! I missed the support when I had questions before as a newbie. Now I just enjoy everyone's chickens.

    Chickens Again!

Have you had chickens before? They are so easy to keep its ridiculous. My big challenge is to make sure the coop is critter-proof. You have so much to look forward to. In the meanwhile you can research what type of chickens you want, how many, what the coop will be like, etc. if you haven't...

    Chickens Again!

Hi Emelyn: Thank you so much. I agree. People who don't know chickens don't get to see them close up to see what wondrous works of art they are. (And characters too).

    Chickens Again!

Three years ago we moved right across Canada from Victoria BC to Saint John NB. I could not take my beloved chickens with me so re-homed them with a friend of a friend that would love them as much as I. But was time went on I realized I missed my chickens, so this summer we broke down and went...
