The cockerel in the background is the offspring of a male Barnevelder and female cream legbar (CL). I have no way of proving (to my knowledge) if the mother is the CL or CCL.
Here are pictures of the parents and some of their now ~3 month old pullets. Hatching your own was a unique experience I will definitely be doing again!!!
Looks like the CLB crosses are split 2 boys and 2 girls! The Barnevelder X BRs are both female it appears. No dots on their heads. A few more have pipped that we are waiting to hatch. This is a really interesting process and I wish I did this sooner!
First egg has hatched! It is one of the Barnevelder X CL. Need it to dry off a bit but I am guessing it is a boy?
There are 5 other eggs that have pipped (3 Barnie X CL, 1 Barnie X BR, 1 Barnie x Barnie)
Thank you so much for the answers/information! We got our Barnevelders from Meyer as day old chicks (ordered 2 pullets and got a pullet and a cockerel :) ). The hen lays a very light brown so I would presume both barnevelders come from the same line and will result in a light green egg from the...
Bringing this thread back. I have some cream legbar, barnevelder, and barred rock eggs over my barnevelder rooster in the incubator hatching in about a week. First hatch ever and I am excited. Am I correct in assuming the following things?
1. Not all the cream legbar pullet hatches will product...
Hello. My 7 month old Production Red from Meyer seems to have three issues that all started just over a week ago. All of these issues have caused her to be relatively docile and not leave the coop to free range. We have quarantined her from the other birds.
First, her one eye seems to be...
I am in the market for a plucker and noticed that Amazon has the 20" Kitchener Plucker in the link below on sale for $279 today (from $350). I am debating between that and the 20" YARDBIRD Plucker 21833, which is $400. Can anyone shed light on the performance (or lack thereof) the Kitchener...
I bought two day old cream legbar chicks (pullets) from Meyer. They are almost 3 months old now. I am new to chickens but I haven't really seen a cream legbar as dark as the one on the left and with the gold hackle feathers. Is this really uncommon? A post above from @Chooks man seems close to...
I plan on fencing in another (fourth) paddock (15x15) next to my run and letting my 10 chickens pick that area clean this winter. I would then like to turn the area into a garden in the spring with the purpose of growing plants that the chicken will eat (while planted so I don't have to do a lot...
Thank you so much for the detailed response. I am learning so much and loving it! It doesn’t shock me how “off” she is. I got her and another CL from Meyer and the other one is almost black with no creme.
@GaryDean26 your reply to the previous post was very helpful for me since I am 10 weeks in to owning chickens for the first time. I started reading over the thread you mentioned but it is daunting given the 300 pages worth of posts. Would you agree this is an acceptable cream color? Since I am...
