Cream Legbar Working Group: Standard of Perfection

The last pic of the sire? His back is a bit shorter than I like and his tail angles appears high. Comb should be straighter, but that's a very very common thing and can be forgiven as long as it doesn't slump too far. I like his big daddy earlobes and his proud upright expression, his yellow beak and feet. His hackle and saddle don't match, he's a bit more Chestnut on the saddle and wing bows, but it's not bad.

One of my girls is molting hard!

are the silver hackle girls same to the golden hackle girls or different line ?
we in OZ have only the golden hackle type .View attachment 1958840 View attachment 1958843

the new import CLB chooks from UK have some silver hackle line.
who do you work with them?

The hackles should match the saddle feathers. What you call silver is what we call "cream". While the two are not identical colors I find a more "silver" hackle will give their male offspring less chestnut/orange colors and make a better looking rooster.

The girl you posted above has heavy melanization. (sp). I would call that bird a "gold-crele" and not a "cream".

that make sense now . because mine they did look to me barred golden salmon .Gold crele like you called it .
so I need to find a cockerel with a silver hackle and saddle?
I have one cockerel hached from import line crossed to OZ line ,so hopefully hw will be silver with less shoulder marking .
here a photo of him ,he is very chuncky like my marans .

I bought two day old cream legbar chicks (pullets) from Meyer. They are almost 3 months old now. I am new to chickens but I haven't really seen a cream legbar as dark as the one on the left and with the gold hackle feathers. Is this really uncommon? A post above from @Chooks man seems close to the same hackle feather color. I still cant believe how different the two look.
